📖 Lamentations 3:22–23

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for God’s compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Most mornings, my first instinct is to check the news or glance at my calendar. And most mornings, that doesn’t leave me feeling particularly hopeful. Before I even finish my coffee, I can feel overwhelmed by everything waiting for me. Maybe you’ve had mornings like that too.

The writer of Lamentations reminds us that every single day begins with mercy. Before we look at our phones, before we remember yesterday’s mistakes, before we tackle today’s problems—God has already spoken a word over us: new mercies, fresh compassion, unfailing love.

What strikes me is that the author wrote these words in the middle of grief. Jerusalem had been destroyed. The people were displaced. And still, the promise was true: God’s faithfulness had not disappeared. Sometimes it takes intentional practice to see mercy in the middle of difficulty. But that’s exactly what it means to walk in grace daily.

👉 Try this: when you wake up each day, before you check your messages, whisper: “Your mercies are new this morning.” Then name three things you’re thankful for. Gratitude helps us see what grace has already given us.

💭 Reflection Question: How might your day feel different if the very first words you spoke were about God’s mercy instead of your schedule?

🙏 Prayer: God, thank you for fresh mercies today. Help me to walk in grace, with gratitude on my lips and hope in my heart. Amen.

📲 Action: Post one gratitude from today and invite others to share theirs.
